Derelict Transit | Environment | Transience

This was created as the starting scene of Transience. We wanted to sell a mood and a vibe. The goal was to create a slightly sci-fi subway interior that felt abandoned, unsettling, and lived-in, while maintaining a believable level of realism in design.

I focused heavily on mood and environmental storytelling through lighting, material variation, surface wear, and subtle signs of neglect. The contrasting neon reds and cool blue lighting were used to guide the eye through the scene while reinforcing the uneasy atmosphere.

Special attention was given to creating layered materials, wet surface reflections, grime buildup, and volumetric effects to help sell the sense of age and decay throughout the train car.

Thanks for taking a look!
